MEET OUR CEO
Ms. Ashlee Thompson is a Prince George’s County native and educator. She was born and raised in Maryland and is also a product of Prince George’s County Public Schools. Ashlee attended John H. Bayne Elementary, James Madison, Benjamin Tasker, and Bowie High School. Ashlee loved school and made honor roll every quarter.
When Ashlee was a young child, she lived in Forestville, MD. She would dream of becoming a teacher. She even played teacher daily with her sister and neighborhood friends. She would ask her teachers for additional textbooks and worksheets so that she would have materials to teach the children in the neighborhood.
Upon entering Morgan State University, Ashlee immediately knew her career path and begin to pursue her degree in Elementary Education. While attending Morgan State University, Ashlee worked several jobs. One of jobs being with a company called B.E.L.L, Building Educated Leaders for Life. She worked with the company going into failing schools in Baltimore City, tutoring small groups of at risk youth. She then realized that she had a passion for inner-city students and students from low-income areas whose opportunities were minimal.

In 2007, Ashlee transferred to Bowie State University where she continued to pursue her degree in Elementary Education. It was during this time Ashlee was recognized for her outstanding work in her program and was highly recommended and awarded with the Thinkfinity Scholarship from Verizon. During her final year, Ashlee completed her student teaching. She was able to experience first- hand, the disparities and ability range within students in classrooms. She began to wonder how and if students were able to receive additional assistance to support their individual needs. Ashlee graduated Bowie State University and began teaching in Prince George’s County Public School system.
Within her first year, she noticed the need for students to be provided with supplemental services outside the school day to improve student performance. As a response, in 2012, Ashlee started Essential Foundations Tutoring Service. Essential Foundations caters to students in the Washington Metro Area and was founded to assist in closing gaps in student’s academic performance.
Shortly after beginning Essential Foundations, Ashlee noticed that majority of the disparities in her classroom and her clients, was the gap in their reading abilities. Ashlee returned to her alma mater to obtain her M.Ed. in Reading which she completed in December of 2015.
Ashlee has over 15 years of experience working with children in various capacities. She has been a camp counselor, tutor, mentor, nanny, pre-school teacher, support personnel to early child centers, held leadership positon within school buildings, educational consultant, Title I Coordinator, Reading Specialist and owned as well as directed a Summer S.T.R.E.A.M Enrichment Camp. She views helping children and partnering with parents as her purpose. You may contact us to schedule a “Free Consultation” or book Ashlee for your next engagement.

“We do not work for parents nor teachers, but children. We are enlisted to promote positivity, patience and compassion. If we embrace and embody these traits, relationships & bonds can be fostered that will last a lifetime. ”
